Аннотация
Основная цель данной статьи – рассмотрение приведенного в двух недавних работах В.П. Яйленко источникового материала о греческих колониях, получивших название в честь своих ойкистов (основателей), на предмет его достоверности и релевантности. Автор приходит к выводу, что ни один из примеров В.П. Яйленко не обладает совокупностью этих качеств и, соответственно, не является убедительным доводом в пользу существования подобной практики у греков эпохи архаики.
