Аннотация
Преторианская гвардия, которую Август превратил в постоянный институт, была важнейшей частью военного гарнизона Рима, который, помимо нее, также включал в себя городские когорты, вигилов и некоторые другие узкоспециализированные (в основном разведывательные) службы. В статье рассматриваются, с одной стороны, такие технические аспекты пребывания преторианцев в столице, как организация караульной службы, маршруты передвижения отрядов по городу; с другой – влияние военного присутствия на местных жителей, их взаимодействие в рамках городского пространства как в бытовом, так и в политическом плане.
