Abstract

This is a review of current foreign key trends and fi ndings in the study of Asian Minor clientela (vassal kingdoms, tetrarchies, temple states, and cities) in the context of the Roman Civil Wars of the 1st century BC, primarily published between 2015 and 2025. It analyzes works on the institutional nature of clientela, the role of auxiliary troops, and comparative studies of Roman and Hellenistic traditions. Special attention is paid to discussions on resource mobilization methods and the transition from Republican patronage to Imperial clientela.
