Abstract
The era of Jehoram (852–841 BC), the last king from the house of Omri, during which the weakening of political power and a dynastic crisis began, is little studied by scholars. The author believes that in the socio-political sphere of the Northern Israelite Kingdom, tendencies of tribal egalitarianism and a military-bureaucratic ancient Eastern autocracy coexisted. Internal factors of the crisis were of particular importance in the process of its intensifi cation. Political instability was also infl uenced by the strengthening of the Kingdom of Damascus and the pressure from Assyria.
