Аннотация
В статье разбираются причины надчеканки монет города Томи в Западном Причерноморье эмблемой монет Истрии. Автор дает новую датировку серии монет Томи с типами «голова Зевса в лавровом венке – скачущие протомы коней Диоскуров, звезды», которую он относит ко второй четверти III в. до н.э. Выдвигаются аргументы против датировки этих монет концом II в. до н.э. и контраргументы против предложенной в литературе даты их надчеканки Истрией в конце II – начале I в. до н.э. По мнению автора статьи, надчеканка этих монет ранней истрийской монетной эмблемой связана с расширением торгово-экономического влияния Истрии в Западном Понте в первой половине III в. до н.э., что привело к войне между Византинм, Каллатисом и Истрией за монополию в Томи в середине этого столетия.
