А.А. Osipova, A.V. Bezrukov (Magnitogorsk) – Folk Songs as the Source of Identities of the Nağaybäks

Abstract

The article deals with the attempt to introduce into scientific use two folk songs of the Nağaybäks from the periods of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. These songs have not been published and have not been the subject of separate historical and philological research. One of them tells about the longing for the homeland of the Nağaybäks Cossacks, who are forced to fl ee from the persecution of the Red Army to China, while the other is dedicated to the tragic events of 1941. The authors analyse historical foundation of the songs and their artistic uniqueness.
