Abstract

The numismatic collection of the Russian archaeologist, N.K. Minko (1880 – after 1920), the State Historical Museum of the Southern Urals (Chelyabinsk), includes, in particular, coins of six eastern regions out of eight: China (4 pieces), Central Asia (13), India (1), Iran (6), Georgia (5), and Turkey (3). Coins of the Golden Horde and the Crimean Khanate will be published separately. Chinese wens belong to the Qianlong (1736–1795) and Xianfeng (1851–1861) times. Two coins were minted in Aksu and Kashgar. Central Asia coinage is represented by the Qarakhanid dirham and the tangas of the Khanate of Kokand, Khanate of Khiva and the Emirate of Bukhara. The 10th–12th-century imitation of the Sassanid drachma dates back to the Chalukya dynasty, India. There are also Ilkhan and Qajar coins from Iran. A Safavid coin is included in the “Georgia” category, along with abazi of the Bagrationi dynasty.
