Abstract
This is a comprehensive analysis of bone remains discovered in the 5th–4th centuries BC Scythian burial ground near the village of Orekhovka (Kirovsky district, Crimea), among which a fragment of a calcaneus with traces of healing and a preserved fragment of a weapon were found. The material indicates that the buried person, a man over 50 years old, was wounded in the outer (lateral) side of the body of the calcaneus. Despite the fact that the arrowhead was not removed from the wound during life, the infl ammatory process did not lead to fatal consequences, and the person was able to live for a long time with a foreign body in the body.
