Abstract

The epistolary legacy of Academician V.V. Latyshev is a significant source for the study of epigraphic monuments of the Northern Black Sea region and the history of research on these inscriptions. Of particular importance is his correspondence with K.K. Kostsyushko- Valyuzhinich, the first director of the museum and excavations at Chersonesus. It is kept in Latyshev’s personal collection at the Saint Petersburg Branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences and in the Kostsyushko-Valyuzhinich’s personal collection in the Scientific Archive of the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Preserve “Chersonesus Taurica” (a total of 54 letters and two telegrams).
