Abstract
The first exploration of the fl ooded part of Phanagoria was conducted under the leadership of V.D. Blavatsky in 1958–1959. In the course of these works, it became known that the boundary of the city stretched from the modern coastline for 220–240 m. The depth of the flooded parts of the city is not more than 2,3 m and the square of underwater part of Phanagoria reached 17 hectares. The paper summarizes information from the published reports of V.D. Blavatsky, with the involvement of unpublished fragments from archival documents.
