Abstract
This article is devoted to the development of early farming cultures of the Intermediate Area (from Panama to Ecuador). The appearance of sedentary societies and the formation of a complex economy in the north of South America (Colombia, Ecuador) is associated with multifactor processes. It is necessary to study this processes and taking into account information about plants domestication and climatic changes during the formative period (4000–1000 BC).
