Abstract

Dedications of warriors from auxiliary troops dislocated in the Roman Britain in the 1st – 3rd centuries AD were directed only to the Roman gods in images of emperors, Divine Augusts, and also to Jupiter Optimus Maximus, Juno Сonсordia, Roma who was considered the goddess-patroness of the city Rome, Silvanus and Fortuna as to health deities, purely to military Genii and standards (signa). The absence of the dedications to the local gods shows very weak, and most likely very hostile relations between the Romans and the indigenous Celtic population of Britain.
