Abstract
The article examines the location of the country of Pactyice, mentioned in the 13th satrapy. During the administrative reforms of Darius I, Armenia was transformed into a separate satrapy, occupying the 13th place in Herodotus' list of satrapies. For a long time, the prevailing opinion in Armenology was that the 13th and 18th satrapies were located within the territory of Armenia. However, recently, a well-founded viewpoint has been put forward (B.A. Arutyunyan, O.G. Khorikyan) according to which Armenia was not divided between the 13th and 18th satrapies, and the latter was located between the Kura River and the Greater Caucasus mountain range. Fully sharing the viewpoint that Armenia was entirely part of the 13th satrapy, the authors aim to clarify the localization of the country of Pactyice, which is mentioned as part of this satrapy, based on the analysis of primary sources.
