Аннотация
В статье на основании данных литературной традиции, эпиграфики и археологии рассматриваются греческие атлетические и артистические состязания в эпоху Римской империи (I–III вв.). Игры в эллинистический и римский периоды демонстрируют как преемственность с предшествующим временем, так и новшества. Важнейшую роль сохранили Олимпийские, Истмийские, Немейские и Дельфийские игры, а кроме того, реформировались старинные местные агоны, ранее предназначенные только для жителей определенного города или области, и учреждались новые. Они сформировали единую систему состязаний, обладавших разным уровнем престижа: высшую категорию образовывали панэллинские «священные игры с венками», менее значимыми считались «игры с призами». Начиная с эпохи эллинизма большое значение в проведении этих праздников имели профессиональные объединения технитов Диониса (актеров, музыкантов, поэтов и всех, кто был связан с миром театра) и атлетов Геракла (спортсменов). Греческие праздники были центральным элементом в жизни городов и в межполисных отношениях. При помощи игр поддерживалась и сохранялась эллинская идентичность, они демонстрировали власть и богатство местных аристократов, часто выступавших организаторами этих состязаний. Влияние агонов чувствуется во всех сферах жизни полиса: в политике, архитектуре, памятных надписях и статуях, в общем ритме жизни. Эти игры были связаны с императорским культом, таким образом доказывая лояльность местного населения Риму. В статье рассматриваются как общегреческие Олимпийские, так и местные игры, прежде всего, Демосфении, учрежденные по желанию Гая Юлия Демосфена, притана и секретаря городского совета ликийской Энноанды в 124 г. н.э. (SEG XXVIII, 1462).
