Abstract

The paper is a publication of the handmade ceramics of the 3rd – 4th centuries AD from the 1970–1995 excavations at the Bosporan city of Kytaion. The authors distinguesh the main kinds and types of vessels and conseder their chronology. Ethnographic features of the handmade ware and the ratio of Greek, Bosporan and barbaric ceramics among fi nds are specially examined. Today, the handmade ceramics from the 3rd – 4th centuries AD layers of Kytaion is represented by the Greek group – 22%, the Bosporan one – 62%, and the North Caucasian – 16%.
